After many difficult years, I finally got to walk the stage with so many of my friends to mark the end of an era-- graduation. This week, while making a memory board for my graduation party, I had the chance to reflect on it all.
The morning of graduation was full of rushing around, handing literally everything to my mom to carry, and strapping on high heels before hopping into her new car to begin our journey to Robert Morris University, where commencement would begin. The friendships I’ve made throughout high school have been incredible. After seeing two of my PA Cyber friends, Lanie and Caitlin, at prom, I was lucky enough to see them again at graduation. I was so excited to walk alongside them-- and I even befriended both girls sitting next to me that day. Graduation brought all kinds of people together, and I loved that.

One of my favorite parts of graduating was decorating my cap, Coffee Talk themed, of course. My proudest achievement is launching, creating, and building my blog. A world of my own thoughts, it’s truly everything and more. My cap read: “Full of a Latte Love, Coffee Talk with Jill.”
After fighting for our academic advisors and teachers by speaking out at a board meeting this year, I was so excited when the teachers pulled some strings and asked me to be interviewed for Good Morning PA Cyber, our schools morning recap that sponsors episodes that keeps parents, students, and families updated. That was pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
It was so hot and stuffy, but eventually Archie, our school mascot, lead us to our seats where it all began. After a bit of some long, boring speeches, I was one of the first to be announced. When they called my name at graduation, I gave a big wave as I walked on the stage and heard my crowd cheering for me. I was accompanied by my cousin, Isa, my best friend, Fiona, Mom, and Gram. Pap also watched virtually since he couldn't make it in person. It was such a special moment, and I’m equally grateful and proud of how far I’ve come.
This fall, I’ll be attending Seton Hill University to major in psychology, where I’ll work toward my ultimate goal of becoming a child therapist. A few weeks ago, I went to orientation-- got my computer, scheduled my classes, and even met some friendly faces. I even got to connect with an old friend. I’ll also be taking private music lessons with the director of the theater department, which I am so excited about.
Last weekend, I went to my best friend Jill's graduation party. It was refreshing to sit in the memories of these last couple of years-- especially our high school experience. Saying goodbye to this season of life is hard, but we’re both so excited to continue our education and build long, happy futures for ourselves.
As I started dorm shopping with my mom, and then again with Fiona a few days later, it started to sink in. I received my real diploma in the mail which means I’m officially a graduate. I’m officially an adult. I feel so blessed to have come this far. Coffee Talk, friends, family, and a whole lot of love-- it really does make all the difference.
Your favorite writer and graduate,
Jill🎓
