Two Years In Review

Published on 12 October 2025 at 11:00

Around two years ago, I realized I needed a special way to express my thoughts, a space that was entirely my own. As a junior in high school without a writing club to turn to, I decided to create something from scratch. And today, I'm celebrating the second happiest birthday of my creation: Coffee Talk With Jill.

Last year, I shared a reflection on what this blog has meant to me and how far it has come, so it’s only fair to do another reflection on why I write and connect as much as I do.

What I love most about Coffee Talk is the diversity of posts. In the early days, I struggled with what to write about. I’ll be honest, I avoided writing at times because I wasn’t sure what the “right” process looked like or how often I should post. Originally, I aimed for weekly uploads, but I quickly realized that pace felt rushed and took the joy out of the experience.

Eventually, I landed on a biweekly schedule, which I started sometime last year. Posting around the 15th and 30th of each month has been the perfect balance, especially since I run the blog solo. It’s enough to stay connected without overwhelming myself, and most importantly, it’s enjoyable and fun!

One of the most rewarding parts has been meeting new people and sharing the blog with them. For many of us, sharing our inner thoughts and feelings can be hard. But with my blog, it feels so natural. I usually just give a short explanation of what the blog is,  and that’s all it takes. The beautiful part is that I rarely know who’s reading, but I always hope that whoever stumbles across a post walks away with a smile, a laugh, or something to brighten their day.

The idea for “Coffee Talk” came from the simplest joys,  my love for coffee and my love for chatting. My hope is that this platform brings even a little bit of comfort, joy, or humor to others. I’ll never forget how, during my first few weeks of college, a group of friends I had just met told me they had found and read my blog. I was shocked… like, how did you find that? They explained they had clicked the link on my Instagram and genuinely enjoyed a few posts. That moment meant the world to me. Just knowing people are clicking through and connecting with what I write, it’s special.

But even if no one were reading, I’d still be grateful. This blog has become a personal keepsake, something I can look back on for years. Every few months, I scroll through old posts and reflect on the stories, memories, and meaning behind them. It’s a time capsule of sorts, capturing my mindset and growth through different stages of life.

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY COFFEE TALK! 🎉🎉
Thank you for giving me a voice and a space to just be me.

Latte Love,
Jill ☕
