This season has been one of the best, so bundle up with a warm cup of coffee and take a moment to chat. <3
Officially, my first semester of college has come to an end. I am beyond grateful for all the friends I’ve made along the way and for getting to know the beauty of Seton Hill. While writing out Christmas cards this year, I realized just how many new names I was able to add people I met through college. How lucky am I?
One of my favorite parts of the semester ending was getting to come home to my beautiful family. More specifically, I was so excited to be reunited with my dog, Millie. Nothing compares to the love I feel for her. Being home with her makes all the waiting, studying, and schoolwork completely worth it, every bit of hard work truly paid off.
Christmas Eve was one of the most special I’ve had in a long time. We started the night with a family dinner at Chinatown Inn, our favorite Chinese restaurant in Pittsburgh, where we met up with relatives. There were eight of us total, including my grandma, her two sisters and their husbands, and two of their children. It was so meaningful to gather together, especially since we don’t often see each other throughout the year. Catching up over delicious food and fun drinks made the night even better.
After dinner, we attended a beautiful Mass at St. Agnes Parish, my gorgeous, gorgeous church, with my mom and grandma. Every Christmas hymn sung by the chorus and every word spoken felt utterly perfect. Silent Night, my favorite Christmas hymn, was sung in the dark, creating such a magical moment as the lights went down and the sparkling Christmas trees shone so brightly.
Christmas Day was just as special. Although I was incredibly spoiled with gifts under the tree another year, I couldn’t help but think of those who aren’t as fortunate. I was so happy to complete two Operation Christmas Child gifts through our women’s Bible club, Delight, for children in need. I also loved being able to give my close family thoughtful gifts of my own.
My mom’s boyfriend, Brian, our newest family addition, joined us for Christmas dinner this year. Aside from exchanging gifts and enjoying a delicious meal, my favorite part of the day was playing Scattegories together at the end of the night.
A couple of days later, my mom and I saw The Nutcracker at the Benedum Theater in Pittsburgh, which was an absolutely outstanding performance. The music was so familiar and we decided it would be a new tradition. year. And after, we followed it up with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory with Brian, filled with plenty of laughs and great memories.
I am so incredibly blessed this holiday season. Sending all my love to everyone during this time, and wishing you the happiest New Year.
Latte Love,
Jill ☕
