When people talk about “finals week,” you don’t really think much of it. Obviously, you know there will be a lot of studying, but you don’t fully understand what it feels like until you’re actually in it. Once finals week truly arrives in college, it’s absolute chaos. This year, I felt like I had a million tests to study for, and it was way different than anything I experienced in high school. Although I had the luxury of completing all my exams and presentations online, my first semester still proved to be much trickier than expected.
I started the week with my Introductory Psychology exam, which I prepared extensively for. I ended up with a 24/25, and honestly, that class made me incredibly nervous all semester. I loved my professor and appreciated how thorough she was in her teaching. I even had the option to drop an extra exam from my grade, which was such a relief. My next final was a presentation, which I earned a 50/50 on. Presenting in front of the class was terrifying at first, but after a while, it felt just like performing on a stage. My last exam was for Faith, Religion, and Society, and I received a 203/200. I was so excited, not only did I get every question right, but I also earned the bonus points. Safe to say, I officially crushed finals week.
The last few weeks of the semester were incredibly busy, and I really needed a moment to reflect on what my first semester of college has meant to me. One of the most important parts of this experience has been the people I’ve met, especially the friend group I’ve been so lucky to be a part of. Finding your “cup of tea,” particularly in friendships, is something truly special. I love spending time with these girls, whether we’re hanging out in their suite in Farrell or just playing video games together. I am forever grateful for this first semester.
We even had the opportunity to attend “Christmas on the Hill,” a special celebration at Seton Hill. Gabby, Gianna, Halie, Emma, Morgan, and I, along with some other friends, got ready together beforehand. We did our makeup and hair, dressed up in cute outfits, and took group photos around campus. The night was filled with dinner, an after party, and so many memories. I wore a black cocktail dress detailed with white pearls along the top, and I truly felt gorgeous and so happy to be surrounded by such amazing people.
This semester was filled with so many special moments, from Delight meetings and coffee runs to late-night study sessions. My first semester of college is officially over, and while it’s bittersweet to be away from my friends for a couple of weeks, I’m so happy to be home with my family and my dog.
Drop some first semester memories below. :D
