Oklahoma Loves

During this crazy semester, I finally got to take a break from all the studying and stress and had the opportunity to visit one of my very good friends in Oklahoma. Through working at Kohl’s, I met one of my forever friends. Fiona and I have been friends for a couple of years now, but this past spring, she moved to Oklahoma to be with her husband, Tony.

I arrived at the airport around 5 a.m. on one of the first few days of October. I was excited, but also super nervous because I had never traveled alone before. The Pittsburgh Airport was different from what I had imagined, but after grabbing a small breakfast at Dunkin’, I made my way to my gate and prepared to start my journey. After two delays, having to deboard one of the planes, and arriving in Oklahoma four hours later than expected, I finally got to see my best friend, Fiona, and her husband, Tony, waiting for me in their little Jeep Renegade. To say I was excited would be an understatement!

The trip was one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve had in a long time. I caught up on all the sleep I had missed out on during the semester, but more importantly, I made so many incredible memories with my friends that I will cherish forever. I got to try so many new places, including HTeaO and Dutch Bros. We even visited a little candy store at the mall and filled bags with all kinds of sweet treats. I also made a Build-A-Bear while we were there, which made the whole experience even more special.

Tony, Fiona, and I also spent lots of time playing games together. I think my favorite was Mario Party, but we also played Cards Against Humanity and, of course, our all-time favorite, Minecraft. I even convinced them to watch the newest season of Dancing with the Stars, which we managed to binge in about two days! It was so much fun getting to vote together during the Tuesday night livestream and share the excitement with them.

As much as I loved the trip, unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. I was so sad to leave after such a fun and relaxing week. The post-trip depression hit a little harder this time because I knew that when I returned home to Pennsylvania, my best friends wouldn’t be there with me. I miss seeing Fi all the time and going to the Crafty Shack with her every week. I look forward to the day she moves back and we can get back to making more memories together.

I truly feel like the luckiest and most blessed girl to have such a wonderful friend who is always there for me. Even with all the mountains, states, roads, and miles between us, I know that distance could never take away from the friendship we share. No matter how far apart we are, Fiona will always be one of my forever friends, and I will always be grateful to have her in my life.

All I have to say is that Fiona and Tony better get back here as soon as possible! ❤️

Latte Love,

Jill☕️
