August Ambitions

August flew by, and with it came so many memories that I know I’ll carry with me for a long time. After a trip to Ocean City with my mom, almost-stepdad, and best friend, Jill, I found myself having to return to college far too quickly. A beautiful summer filled with laughter, adventures, and memories has officially come to an end, and I know Summer ’26 will always hold a special place in my heart.

This summer, I officially decided to commute to Seton Hill. Although I loved living on campus, nothing compares to coming home after a long and stressful day to a warm meal from Gram, scratcher time with Pap, and, of course, playing with my dog, Millie. Sometimes, it’s the little things that make home feel so special.

I also officially decided that I want to become an occupational therapist after I complete my studies at Seton Hill University. It feels incredible to finally see my studies turning into a career that means so much to me. Knowing that every class, assignment, and semester is bringing me one step closer to my dream makes all of the hard work feel worth it.

My return to Seton Hill also brought some exciting new opportunities. This semester, I will officially be a Delight Leader for our women’s Bible study on campus. Our book this semester focuses on the women of the Bible, and I’m excited to continue growing in my faith and deepening my relationship with God. I’ll also be volunteering at my church, helping with classes for the little ones. I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to serve others while continuing to grow in my faith. I truly believe God is calling me toward this journey, and I’m excited to see where He leads me.

Recently, I got to see one of my close friends, Rylie, back on campus. Seeing her was such a comforting piece of normalcy after a long summer away. We spent the evening getting dinner before heading back to her apartment, where we talked for hours about boys, her new apartment, and reminisced about last year. Moments like that reminded me just how excited I am to be back and to start making new memories at Seton Hill.

Welcome Weekend was incredible, too! One of my favorite memories was our two-and-a-half-hour bingo game. I did not win a single thing, but somehow still had the best time. Fireworks over the hill, sleepovers, and spending time with friends made the weekend feel like the perfect start to a new year. I may have also scrubbed down the dorm couch before sleeping on it, but shoutout to my friends who let me crash on their couches for all the festivities!

As I begin this new semester, I feel more prepared than ever. I’m ready to grow in my studies, hopefully make the Dean’s List for the third time, strengthen my faith, and make even more memories with the people I love. There is so much ahead of me, and I’m choosing to embrace it all with an open heart.

I’m hopeful that this year will bring countless memories with friends and family, new opportunities, and plenty of growth. Every semester and every class brings me one step closer to becoming an OT, and I can’t wait to accomplish the dream I’ve been working toward.

It’s safe to say I’m feeling pretty ambitious this August. 🤍

Latte Love,

Jill☕️
