This July has been one of the most relaxing months I've had in many years. Not only have I been spending lots of time with family after the last two crazy semesters, but I've also officially taken on bigger responsibilities for the upcoming year. I am so grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people and to have the opportunity to be reminded of what truly living life means.
On July 4th, we celebrated my mom and soon-to-be stepdad, Brian, with an engagement party. It was such a fun day! Even though the rain put some of our plans on pause, I was incredibly honored to be asked to be my mom's Daughter of Honor. I am so excited to officially be part of their wedding and celebrate the cutest couple ever. I also got to celebrate with my best friend, Jill, who will be the flower girl at the wedding!
Summers are always filled with baseball games in Pittsburgh with my Gram. I love spending time with her, and even though the sunburn is usually a bit of a downside, last weekend was especially memorable. I got to watch an awesome game with my family, including my super awesome almost step-sister, Makayla, and one of her close friends. Even though this side of my family has shared so many years together before I came along, I feel incredibly lucky to be getting to know them now and to create new memories together.
Finally, I had to say goodbye to a friend who moved to Florida last week. Over the past couple of years working at Maestro Minds, I've had the pleasure of becoming close friends with Lauren. Between countless dinner conversations and laughing over funny moments with our students, she has become someone I truly cherish. It was bittersweet to have one last dinner and ice cream date before saying goodbye. She's beginning her journey as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Orlando, where she'll be with my other dear friend and her sister, Alayna. While it was a difficult goodbye, I'm already looking forward to visiting them and spending time together at Disney!
Between FaceTime calls with Kitty and our daily scratchers with Pap, I know just how lucky I am. This summer has truly been one of the best. After our upcoming vacation in August, I'll be heading back to Seton Hill University for another year filled with friends, new opportunities, and plenty of fun. It's always important to live in the moment and let life lead you where you're meant to be.
Latte Love,
Jill ☕️
