Seton Hill

Last Thursday, the long-awaited Seton Hill move-in day finally arrived. With the help of my mom, my gram, and our family friend Ashley, I moved into my dorm suite, DeChantal Hall, my new home for the school year, at least!

Before classes began, we kicked things off with Welcome Weekend, a whirlwind of events to get us acclimated and excited for the semester ahead. The schedule was packed with fun activities and opportunities to meet new people. After grabbing lunch with my mom, she gave me a small hug and said her goodbyes. I was beyond excited, but it was definitely a bittersweet moment. Even though I’ll be close to home, this is my first time ever living on my own, and I couldn’t wait for the freedom that comes with it.

Once I met my suite mates in person, the weekend was full of make-and-takes, ice cream socials, meet-ups, free swag, and even a firework show to cap it all off. It was an incredible way to start the year. On Sunday, the last day of Welcome Weekend, I met a few sweet friends I’ve already spent a lot of time with.

That morning, we had an assembly in the gym. I didn’t know many people yet, but I eventually sat on the left side, where I met Maggie. She was quiet and reserved, but incredibly kind. We chatted briefly, and later that evening, she invited me to sit with her and her sister at bingo. It was so much fun, and I even won a Polaroid camera!

Before our class photo down at the baseball field, we attended another assembly. I sat next to Mylee and Shay, two girls I’d talked to briefly the day before when they were searching for Susie the Turtle on campus. They were so warm and welcoming. After our photo, we grabbed ice cream together, and we instantly clicked. Even though we just met, we already laugh like we’ve been friends for years. I can tell we’re building something really special, and I’m so excited to meet even more people.

Every day, we find time to meet for lunch or gather in the courtyard, a peaceful, hidden gem on campus where we love to hang out and chat.

It’s been a crazy, whirlwind of a week. I’m still working at Maestro Minds, and yes, still getting a little lost on campus. But I’m having a blast and just going with the flow.

Wish me luck during this big transition!

Latte Love,

Jill☕️
