This semester overall has been a lot more challenging than the last. After winter break, returning from being home with my grandparents and my dog was very difficult because I missed my family so much. Throughout my entire high school experience, I was home most of the time and felt very comfortable in that routine. As this year comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about everything a lot, and it’s a little hard to say goodbye.
I keep thinking about that first day I moved into my freshman dorm. I was so tired that morning in my mom’s car, and my first impression of my dorm honestly scared me. It honestly looked pretty sad, dark, and empty. But once I filled it with all my belongings and added my personal touches, it became my own. It’s weird to think that next semester, my room will belong to another honors freshman experiencing college for the first time, just like I did.
Over Welcome Weekend, I was so nervous that I wouldn’t make any friends, and I even ate lunch by myself a couple of times. That Sunday before classes started, I met my now friends Shay and Mylee, who completely turned around my college experience. Even though I haven’t seen them as much this semester, I still love catching up with them. Next year, Shay and I will even have a class together, and I’m so excited for that.
I’ve also had the opportunity to decide to commute next year now that I have my own car. I thought a lot about this decision, and after plenty of discussion and planning my schedule, I’ve fully committed to living back at home. I’m especially excited to spend more time with Millie and my grandparents, while still being able to come to campus, see my friends, and attend classes at Seton Hill.
Although this year is coming to an end, I’m really looking forward to summertime, to finally have a long break and return to some normalcy. This first year will always hold a special place in my heart because of all the blessings, fun, and memories. I have exactly four weeks left, and I plan to make the most of them.
Can’t wait for this Coffee Talk summer!
Latte Love,
Jill

I loved your article of your Freshman year. Also, looking forward to you being back at home. Question, where are you going to put all your stuff that you will be bringing back?
Love you.
